Day 26 AIM: How do I prepare for one day of teaching after a random holiday?

Do Now: You had a day off, which was wonderful. You went to the park, you went shopping, you caught up on your sleep. But because the Jews picked their holidays thousands of years before the advent of a 9 month school year, sometimes the calendar is off, resulting in the dreaded one day Friday. You might as well give your students pixie-stix coated in crack, because your students are going to be off the walls.

But there is hope for teachers, and it’s called Netflix. For less than 14 bucks a month, you can have a steady supply of movies come to your apartment. And because they have an extensive documentary section, you always have educational material at your disposal. So the next time we have a dreaded one day Friday, do not fret! Pop Mysteries of Egypt or the extended best of Bill Nye the Science Guy, dim the lights, grab a bag of popcorn or whoppers, and watch the learning unfold right before your very eyes.

If by random you mean “completely awesome and extremely religious and important to the Jewish faith” then yes, Yom Kippur is random.
